About the Project
This research project examines one of the most significant challenges faced by students today: making informed career decisions. Many students struggle to align their studies with future jobs, leading to mismatches, dissatisfaction, and even underemployment. Traditional aptitude tests often fail to accurately capture an individual's true strengths and interests, leaving students uncertain about their career choices. To address this, the project proposes and evaluates a new framework that uses VR-based aptitude tests combined with advanced data analysis. Instead of filling in questionnaires, students can immerse themselves in realistic, interactive VR scenarios that reveal their natural preferences and abilities. The system then analyses these results with a clustering method to identify accurate career matches. This approach bridges the gap between abstract self-knowledge and real-world career understanding. By turning personal traits into experiences and those experiences into meaningful insights, the framework transforms career guidance from a simple test into an engaging journey of self-discovery. While the current work serves as a proof-of-concept, the results demonstrate strong potential for enhancing accuracy in career guidance. Future research will focus on real-world testing with students, aiming to overcome practical challenges such as hardware costs, accessibility, and user comfort. Ultimately, this project aims to empower students with the clarity and confidence needed to make informed, fulfilling career choices.
